Proud to be an American

Let's remember those who sacrificed to give us FREEDOM and let's always stand up for the RIGHTS OF ALL AMERICANS, as many Americans have in the past. Here are some images to remember our country's origin.

"1st Navy Stars & Stripes," flown on the USS Ranger, Apr 24, 1778. Most people believe that the Betsy Ross flag was the first design, but the first documented U.S.A. flag was the staggered star pattern. This flag was first flown by Captain John Paul Jones on the USS Ranger. On April 24,1778 John Paul Jones, in command of the Ranger, became the first American officer to have the American flag recognized by a foreign power. The original 13 states were CT, DE, GA, MD, MA, NH, NJ, NY, NC, PA, RI, SC, VA.

This battle flag during the American Revolution was a signal of the colonists' resistance against tyranny.

This Revolutionary flag was first flown aboard a Colonial Troop ship on January 4th, 1776. A rattlesnake above the warning, "DON'T TREAD ON ME," was a traditional symbol of the American Colonies. The rattlesnake was only found in the American Colonies and nowhere else in the world. Like an American's fight for freedom, the snake's deadly strike would protect that freedom.

The Liberty Bell rang at the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence in Philadelphia (on July 8, 1776).

Have an enjoyable Fourth of July!
