Press Release: Early 2006 efforts raise Bailes' campaign chest to over $15,000

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Early 2006 efforts raise Bailes’ campaign chest to over $15,000
East Ridge, TN, Feb. 2, 2006 — As a result of his first official fundraising campaign, begun in January 2006, Democratic challenger John Bailes has netted over $15,000 for his county commission bid.
Bailes is running for the District 8 county commission seat held by Republican Curtis Adams.
“I decided to begin our first fundraising campaign after the holiday season,” Bailes says. “I asked donors to be prepared. I am pleased with our first month of fundraising.”
“Yet we’ve only just begun,” explains Bailes. “We are receiving donations daily. Most donations average between one hundred and two hundred dollars. I am encouraged to see so many voters participating in our community and political process. The number of people participating indicates the extreme seriousness focused on the District 8 race.”
Bailes’ current goal is $30,000. In 2005, Bailes reported over $7,000 raised. In the first month of 2006, he raised another $8,000—netting over $15,000 for the campaign so far.
“Based on January fundraising, I believe that we will reach our $30,000 goal very soon,” says Bailes. “After reaching that goal, I will raise the bar again. Our campaign goal by June 2006 should jump to $50,000 to $60,000—an amount critical to unseating an entrenched opponent in a general election.”
